GETTING TO KNOW YEHUSHUA
Jehussuah, pronounced Ye (as in "yeah") hu (as in "who") ssu (as in "shoe") ah (as in "uh") is the real name of Jesus. It is a Hebrew variation of the also Hebrew name Jehossuah, pronounced Ye (as in "yeah") ho (as in "hoe") ssu (as in "shoe") ah (as in "uh"). The name 'Jehossuah' in Aramaic, is 'Joshua' (actually pronounced with the "J" as a "Y") and means "God will save". In Aramaic, the language spoken in Galilee at the time, the name 'Jehussuah' (again, with the "J" pronounced as a "Y") is 'Jeshua' and means "God will keep". Some followers of Jeshua who believed he was the prophesied 'Messhiach' called him "Jeshua Messhiach" with "Messhiach" being pronounced "Muh-shē-uh". I will sometimes refer to Jesus Christ as 'Yeshua Messiach' and sometimes as 'Jesus Christ'. As I continue, I'll use his real name more and his Greek name (Jesus) less because it's proper and because I like the sound of 'Yeshua Messhiach'.
Yeshua would have been properly named Jehushua ben Yoseph of Nazareth born of Mayrium . . . (Jesus son of Joseph of Nazareth born of Mary). Another proper but less common name would have been: Yeshua born of Mayrium to Yoseph of Nazareth . . . (Jesus born of Mary to Joseph of Nazareth). The latter would only have been used if Yoseph already had children from a previous wife or if Yoseph was not the biological father of Yeshua).
Mayrium is another variant of a name . . . Myrium. Myrium was the name of the sister of Moses who placed him in the Nile to be found and subsequently adopted by the daughter of Pharaoh. In the New Testament, the women called Mary were either a Myrium or a Mayrium. Myrium was pronounced: Meer (as in "mirror") - ree - yum. Mayrium was pronounced: May (as in the month of May) - ree - yum. Both names were most likely Egyptian in origin, perhaps derived in part from the Egyptian "Mry" meaning "beloved" and "Mra" meaning "love".
The name "Jesus" and "Christ" came from Paul's introduction of the Gospel in Greece. In Greek the sound of the letter 'Y' was not typically used to begin a word and the letter 'Y' in their alphabet didn't have the 'Y' sound as in "Yes" but had the sound of 'I' as in the word 'SIGH' or the sound of 'EE' as in the word 'SEE'. So Paul, who was fluent in Greek, used the " J " sound which would have been more acceptable to the Greeks. Also, the Greeks didn't understand the concept of a 'Messiah' because it wasn't anything they'd heard of and it didn't fit in their religious belief system. It was a Hebrew word for a Hebrew concept. So Paul used "Kristos" which means 'anointed one'. When in Rome, Paul referred to Yeshua as "Jesu" (pronounced Yay Soo) "Christius" with 'Christius' having the same meaning in Roman as 'Kristos' has in Greek. Hence the name "Jesus Christ" which wasn't Yeshua's name then, and it isn't Yeshua's name now and won't be Yeshua's name tomorrow, next Christmas or next Easter.
What does this have to do with Mormonism? Read on.
In Mormon Church meetings, at the end of every prayer, speech, born testimony, belch and hic-cup, you'll hear: " . . . and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen." With Joseph Smith's claim to be God's chosen prophet on earth with the task of "restoring the true gospel" and his claim that he "walked and talked with Jesus" and "Elohim", one would think that somewhere in this relationship, Yeshua would have instructed Joseph Smith to at least get his name right. This claim by Joseph Smith that he was a "prophet of God for these latter days" is the first matter of business that I'll address to prove that he indeed was NOT a prophet in any sense of the word, unless the word is preceded by the word "FALSE".
And finally, a few words about something which really isn't very important, but since Joseph Smith "walked and talked with" Jesus and Elohim, one would expect all the Mormon artwork depicting Jesus to be accurate. It is not likely that Yeshua had light brown hair and a light complexion. Neither is it likely that he was black, as many modern black preachers such as the infamous Jeremiah Wright love to boastfully preach to their black congregations every Sunday. Galilee was geographically situated in a locale frequently trafficked for many centuries by warriors from Egypt, Canaan, Greece, Mesopotamia, Turkey, Persia and Rome. Galilee was never the subject of any of these conquests because they were a small, pastoral group of farmers, shepherds and fishermen with no army and nothing of value. They just happened to be in the way. Also, there was a crossroads of trade routes from Egypt and Ethiopia in the south; Mesopotamia, India, Persia and Arabia from the East (the famous Silk Road); and Turkey, Greece and Rome from the north. So, by the time Yeshua was born, the people of Galilee were so intermixed with all of the people of the 'levant' around the Mediterranean, as well as from India and Africa, that they couldn't possibly be of a fair complexion . . . "white and delightsome" as Joseph Smith would say (unless this phrase has been removed from Mormon scripture since I last read it). The people of Galilee were of a ruddy complexion with black wavy hair and dark brown eyes. They were North-African Caucasoids and, simply stated, except for being shorter in stature they looked very much like the middle easterners of today. If and when Yeshua returns he'll look like he came from Egypt rather than from Sweden so I imagine the Christian world, and Mormons especially, (considering their "white and delightsome" bullshit, and their previous racist doctrine regarding negroes and the 'curse' on Lamen) will be sorely disappointed.
